Today's Game

Good afternoon everyone.  You are receiving this email as a response from the events of the 11U game this afternoon against Spain and England.

The actions of the coaches were out of line and thus resulting in a poor environment for our players and parents.  For that we apologize.  Immediately following the game, I spoke with both parties involved and explained the negative implications surrounding their behavior on the field.

Both coaches were willing to humble themselves, apologize, and are willing to agree to reconcile with the players to finish the season.  They will have a chance to discuss their faults to the players this week at practice.

Also, we discussed protocol to ensure that our competitive attitudes stay in check to preserve the positive nature of our league.  We all have made and unfortunately, do continue to make, mistakes in our lives.  This is the continued proof that our greatest need as humanity is a Savior.  In which God has provided in the life of Jesus Christ.  By accepting the Truth about Jesus and his sacrifice, humanity can be reconciled back to God.

As believers in the Truth, we want to strive to work hard and challenge each other to live the life worthy of the calling we have received.  Sometimes, this is a challenge.

The protocol moving forward is that if at any time verbal or physical comments are out of hand, the coaches, officials, or Director can suspend the game to call the leadership together to resolve it immediately.  This includes comments from parents and spectators.  Our goal is to have a positive environment for all who are involved.  We will not allow an incident or comment fester into something greater.  Once the situation is resolved, the leadership will resume the game.  If the situation does not resolve in a proper manner, the Director can and will call the game.

Our motivation for 316 Sports is to teach TRUTH in life that extends beyond the fields of play.  The greater issue here is how adults handle conflict.  Today, on the field was a poor example.  Our kids saw that poor example.  We will strive to better that and will work to see the main purpose of our existence, to offer TRUTH in TRAINING for LIFE.

Finally, I apologize that the TRUTH TIME did not get shared after the game.  I have spoke to the Director and it will be shared at your practice time this week.  Again, no matter what the outcome of the game, we all should be able to hear TRUTH and respond to it.  That game ended over 2 hours ago.  No player will remember much about the game, except the negative actions.  That saddened our coaches hearts.  I know they will learn from the situation and strive to be an example that will encourage reconciliation on and off the field.

Thank you for your involvement in our program.  I believe we learn more each season and grow, in more important ways than numbers.  I look forward to a positive week and completion of our 2018 Spring Season.

Erik Shamblin, 316 Sports Director
